As a Bay Area native I have witnessed the depletion of our water supply and the alarming impact of climate change. Protecting our water supply for generations to come while continuing to provide clean, safe, and affordable water is a priority for me. But we need the communities to participate in meeting the challenges ahead and I believe I have the experience to do just that.
My family taught me the value of hard work and planning for the future. I am an American-born citizen of Chinese and Filipino heritage. I am bi-cultural. My Filipino ancestor came to the US as an indentured servant to work in sugarcane fields. After he escaped servitude, he secured an education to become one of the first Filipino pharmacists in the United States. My Chinese grandfather had no formal education and sold fish out of his truck to feed his family. Despite his humble beginnings, the values he imparted to his children resulted in one of his sons becoming a Nobel Peace Prize candidate in 2017. Public Service is in my DNA and I am committed to work hard and meet the challenges ahead.
